Description

NGC7129 is a reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus at a distance of some 3300 Lyr. Illuminating sources are about 130 very young and blue stars, whose light is reflected by the nebula, giving the nebula its characteristic blue color. There are a number of red blobs in the image, mostly caused by so-called Herbig-Haro objects: surrounding hydrogen gas is compressed and ionized by the shock fronts of the young stars and the ionized gas emitting in Halpha. Molecular clouds in the environ are brownish-yellow to dark black against the nebula.

Data were taken on August 23 and 26 of 2023.
